Arts & Communication

Contact: Amy Taramasso

Arts and Communication course work includes the study of drawing, two-dimensional design, and art history and offers the opportunity to explore painting, photography, printmaking, fashion design, illustration, advertising design, poster design, life drawing, storyboarding, web design, mural painting, and other media and genres.

Arts and Communication students study and practice basic art principles within an integrated, project-driven curriculum that emphasizes the visual arts as a means of self-expression and communication. Class projects connect the visual arts to writing, speaking, and using technology in ways characteristic of literate adults. Students study seminal artists and movements to develop a working knowledge of the fundamentals of the study of art history. Students also participate in portfolio reviews and in-class critiques, and they generate professional documents, including resumes, artists’ statements, and process papers about their work.
